This overview of dishes starts to overflow, hinting at how many possibilities are out there. Thailand is host to many special ingredients, some of which it is difficult to reproduce at the same level elsewhere, but many of which can be found for dishes in a variety of locations around the world. It is my hope that these lists helped some readers explore new possibilities and provided a welcome reminder of enjoyable dishes to others. Bon appetit!

How to Eat Fresh Lobster

By Bob Current Platinum Quality Author

So you've gotten through cooking your own Lobster, or you've been invited to a lobster cookout.

Now you're sitting there suddenly wondering how to get at the succulent meat everyone has been telling you about hidden inside the shell.

Here are the steps to follow:

  • Make sure to tie on a bib or towel, this can be messy business.
  • Start by twisting off the front claws at the first joint next to the body.
  • Crack open the claw and claw legs with a cracker or mallet. Depending on how it was cooked there may be a lot of juice so be careful.
  • Use a pick(long skinny fork usually provided) to scoop every juicy morsel from the claws
  • Once you're finished with the claws roll the rest over onto its back and uncurl its tail.
  • With the tail uncured, grasp the body in one hand and the tail in the other. Split these apart in one decisive twist.
  • You might see some green stuff, scrape or wash it away, it is the liver.
  • Break off the little flippers from the tail, these will have meat inside, even if it is a small amount.
  • Insert your thumb into the flipper end of the tail. You should be able to slide the meat right out. If you have a problem you can use a sharp knife to cut along the bottom of the tail, then wedge the shell open.
  • There will be a dark vein like tube that runs the length of the tail meat and should be discarded.
  • Finally, gently twist each remaining leg off the body. These also have small but delicious bits of meat.
  • The meat is hard to get to but try biting or crushing the leg a little, dip into your melted butter, then suck the meat out.

That's all there is to it. Now you can eat Lobster like a pro.

The New And Old Souls (Like Dead Wheat - A Sketch Into The Land Of Dead Souls)

By Dennis Siluk Ed.D. Platinum Quality Author

((DNA and the Genetic Code, Genesis) (like Dead Wheat))

And Micha'el quoted from the Book of John, and Mathew; for I had asked: "...what were the answers to the soul of Adam and those before him...," and Micha'el quoted the New Testament, saying:

John 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

(Micha'el was looking for me to give him an answer!)

Mt 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto the simple, and unto babes.

Mt 16:3 O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

And I said to Micha'el:

"I have never turned face on listening and looking at what my mind does not understand, for those are the things I find most simple, once told me, perhaps because I am not all scientist, nor all philosophy, plus I am a simple man, and God has given these things to such people like me."

And Micha'el looked deep into my eyes, and then told Moun'el to explain (for I could not understand the difference between Adam, and those before him, what makes one different than the other?)

Moun'el Explains:

"God gave all living things life, but he did not breath into their nostrils as he did Adam, he gave them a living force only, connected to the cosmos (a spiritual force, one that can read and communicate in its own language), you call it DNA. This Genetic Code has a simple language of 26-letters; it is in all living life, animal, plant and human. Like all languages, it communicates; this code is formed in a honeycomb pattern, incased in cells, and these cells contain the essence of life. Each cell although primitive, is complex, these cells perceive (or recognize, see, take in) cosmic forces, no human knows why, yet the forces in life are inside the cell, cosmic in nature, not of earth, these forces you cannot see, because they are spiritual, these make up the DNA, and Genetic Code.

The breathe of God, his essence, life that produces a soul, an immortal soul, the one he gave Adam, that made the biggest difference, to the observer called Satan, now there was a part of God himself in man, before this time, they were dead souls in comparison-the difference being, souls of God or by God-now when death came upon man, those who came from Adam, were souls that were of God.

Before Adam: souls were created differently, and those whom were of the earth before Adam, were subject to their king, Lucifer, and they were of a different breed, like animalia souls almost, that died and forever were silent, and there were souls that took Lucifer's side but he could only offer them his character, and so they took that upon themselves, when they died, they became his servants, some demonic, some remain silent in their graves, many are in the prison, others in hell, but a few made it to paradise.

The souls before Adam, were like dead wheat, and the old way of dying was put to death, for nothing was being born that was good, that could grow, and the old ways could not die, and God saw this and he needed to give new life, so it would grow, and so man unknowingly discovered a new way of dying-and living again, he had gotten a new soul-Adam was the hand picked first person, put into a garden and kept away from the dead wheat, and good came out of this. But in time, because of the forbidden fruit being eaten, and because of the son's of Adam one king his brother and cast out to fend for himself among the ones before Adam, the growing wheat would be mixed with the old and dying.

But the old ones did not want to die, and let the new ones live, it is that survival instinct you know, but to those of the old ways, God was not born fresh inside of them. Oh, they knew of him, tried to make new gods to forget him. And this is how I recall it."

And I knew from this vantage point, all the great prophets were linked to Adam, Abraham, Moses, David, Christ; and so the linage goes to this very day.

Diatomaceous Earth - How to Service and Maintain

By Ron Burr Platinum Quality Author

DE filters also know as Diatomaceous Earth filters are a common method to filter swimming pool and spa water. DE filters use a very fine powder to coat internal grids or plates to capture debris and dirt as they pass through a filter tank or vessel.

DE filter are available in many sizes usually noted in square footage. The most common sizes are 24, 36, 48, 60 and 72 square feet of surface. Most filters are rated at 2 gallons per minute of flow per square foot of surface area. An example would be a 36 square foot filter would be capable of up to 72 gallons per minute of flow. This is important so as not to attempt to use to large of a pump which could cause internal damage to the filter grids and the filter tank itself. DE filters have been manufactured in many different materials plastic, fiberglass and stainless steel.

Most DE filters required a type of control valve, usually a valve known as a Multi Port Valve or a Slide Valve. Both types of valves allow the water inside the tank to be reversed as needed to "backwash" the grids when required. Multi port valves offer more options, such as bypass, rinse, waste, closed and recirculated modes where as slide valves usually only have filter and backwash modes.

How does backwashing work? Backwashing allows the reversal of the water inside the tank to flush out captured dirt and debris. The "spent" DE is flushed outside the tank and caught in either a separation tank bag or another method for disposal. Once the backwashing has occurred the filter will need to be re-energized with fresh DE powder. The valve position is moved back to the standard filter mode and pool water is moved through the filter in the normal operating flow pattern. The skimmer valve of the pool is opened and fresh DE powder is added to the filter through the skimmer allowing the pump to pull the powered back into the tank and allowing the grids or plates to be recoated.

At some point in time will the filter need to be taken apart and cleaned? Yes, backwashing the filter will only be effective a certain number of times. Shorter and shorter filter runs will be noted and this will signal that the filter will need to be taken apart and completely serviced. Servicing a DE filter will require removal of the internal grids or plates, cleaning of their surfaces, flushing out of the tank, reassembly, and addition of fresh filter powder directly inside the filter. Remember to lubricate o-rings before reassembly to allow for water tight seals.

How much DE will need to be added to a filter? Filters which are produced in various square footage sizes and will require a certain number of pounds of DE per square foot of filter area. Consult your filter owner's manual for manufactures recommendations.

Please keep in mind, use caution when working with Diatomaceous Earth, eye and nose protection along with gloves should be used when ever working with or handling DE.

DE filters are an excellent method of filtration and when these filters are maintained and serviced on a regular basis crystal clear swimming pool water can be expected.

The Fresh Natural Look and Beauty From Within

By Connie Limon Platinum Quality Author

Strive to appear as if you did not actually put on makeup. The common terms for this look is minimalist, nude, sheer, natural. All of these terms mean "less is more". Looking natural is the look of today.

The way to achieve an all-natural look is by using "invisible" makeup products.

The lifestyles of today are casual and easy-going. It is inappropriate to have a "made-up" look. The beauty products available today create a fresh, natural look if used properly.

The goal is to appear as if you are wearing no makeup. Actually you are wearing the sheerest shades and tints of beauty products. Such a look can be achieved by using a sheer foundation that matches the skin tone. If you apply a lighter or darker shade of foundation than the true color of your skin you will create an unnatural appearance.

Apply a pale shade of lipstick to give you that fresh, dewy look.

Below are some beauty products that will give you that fresh natural look:

1. Non-foundation - Foundations that give you a "nude" color will create the illusion of not wearing make-up.

2. Light-tinted moisturizers - These moisturizers hydrate your skin. You can wear these light-tinted moisturizers under your make-up to add to your fresh natural look.

Look for brands that protect the skin. Moisturizers can be put under your make up and the sheer color will perfect the color of your skin giving you a blemish-free look.

3. Lip gloss or nude lipstick - for the natural look; use a product that will give sheen to your lips.

4. Invisible makeup products - there are eye shadows, lip tints, light eyebrow pencils, blushes and a host of other beauty products that will give you that fresh, just "out-of-bed" look.

By using the proper application you can have the natural, minimalist look that will show off the real you.

The woman of today wants to be accepted for who and what she is. By achieving a fresh natural look, you can show off the real you to the world - a woman who is not afraid to be her self and wants to be liked for what she is beneath the covering of minimal make-up products.

Stay beautiful inside and out! Even though we live in a world where companies make millions of dollars in the beauty industry, it helps to know that you do not need to spend a lot of money on products or artificial enhancements to really be beautiful.

When you strive for a positive attitude, a sound mind and body, and a positive well-being you will glow from within. Here are some tips on how you can be beautiful from the inside to the outside:

1. Know who you are and be comfortable with yourself. If you are comfortable with yourself, you know exactly who you are and you have a positive outlook in life.

2. Strive for an inner confidence and embrace your uniqueness.

Beauty is a matter of perception. There are people who do not have angelic features or a perfect profile but once you look at them, they have an aura and air that you just cannot put a finger on. This vitality comes from within. Focus on your good points. Make an effort bring out the best of whom and what you are.

3. Pamper yourself, eat well take care of yourself. If you have good overall health you further enhance your inner beauty.

If you decide to lose weight, do it for yourself - in order to stay healthy. Don't succumb to the pressures of society; that being beautiful means being paper-thin.

If you are tied to a desk from 9 to 5, spend some time out in the sun during weekends and jog or play a physical game with friends. This will not just give you a break from work but also lift your sprits. Pamper your self from time to time as a reward for all of the hard work that you do.

By following these tips, you are well on your way to being truly beautiful - both inside and out.

Surprise Them All With Fresh, Tropical Fruit Baskets

By Anne Clarke Platinum Quality Author

Fruit baskets are a great gift idea for anyone for whom you are shopping. There are all kinds of fresh fruit gift baskets for every sort of occasion – but topical fruit baskets are not the fruit baskets most people expect. It can be an impressive as well as an extremely tasty surprise! There are all different kinds of fresh fruit baskets with tropical fruits available for all different occasions.

As I mentioned before, many people expect a fruit basket or two to appear at an office party, holiday gathering, or other kinds of occasions. The basket will contain delicious and unexpected flavors – its contents both surprising and sure to be popular with virtually everyone there. Tropical, exotic fresh fruit gift baskets are also perfect gifts for friends who love to cook and / or explore different kinds of cultural traditions in cooking.

For example: a tropical or exotic fruit basket will contain fruits such as the plantain, the ackee, or vegetable egg (popular in many Jamaican dishes) as well as the cashew apple or, also known as cashew fruit. These fruits are a delicacy and should be carefully eaten due to a content of toxic oils in the grayish sell encasing of the nut on the inside. Cashew apples are the yellowish – orange part attached to the fruit, they are juicy and very delicious.

Dragon fruit, (also known as the strawberry pear) mango, star fruit, papaya, and even avocado are popular in tropical fresh fruit gift baskets. The Feijoa, or the Pineapple Guava, as it is better known is another wonderful kind of fruit. It is similar to the popular guava fruit, but less readily available in the supermarkets and fruit stands of many locations. Especially for gift baskets including mango salsa, Asian pear salad, guava pastry dips and other recipes, pineapple guava is a great idea.

For sauces and other recipes, pineapple guava is absolutely delicious, and it is simple to scoop the sweet fruit from the inside for the tastiest of culinary experimentation – or recipes inside the gift basket itself. Despite the commonness of fruit baskets, there are many kinds of fruit baskets that are anything but common. As a matter of fact, you can create exotic fruit baskets that are designed with the perfect contents for your giftee, no matter for whom it is that you are purchasing a fresh fruit gift basket.

Allergens and Air Cleaners - A Breath of Fresh Air

By Art Emiss Platinum Quality Author

The winter time can be the time of the year when Allergy suffers have the worst time. The Indoor Air Quality goes down significantly when you close the windows of your home. If you have a fireplace that you use, the Indoor Air Quality can be even worse. Safe Homes does not recommend the use of fireplaces unless there is a proper way to create a safe Indoor Air Quality draft for the occupants of the house. This is complicated and requires a professional to design.

An Air Cleaner such as the Austin Air Cleaner can help reduce the Indoor Air Allergens from everyday living. In the winter time, when you seal your house up to prevent the cold air from entering your house, you are also sealing the pollutants inside your home with no way to exit via fresh air. An air cleaner with a Carbon Zeolite mixture will help remove pollutants in the air and reduce your aggravated allergy symptoms.

I have one client who is so allergic to the Indoor Air Quality pollutants that when she cooks certain foods, she has to run an Air Cleaner to remove the pollutants generated by cooking. You first question is "What are your talking about: Pollutants From Cooking, What is that?" An example of pollutants from cooking is: Nitrogen Dioxide levels can increase during cooking activities with gas.

Cooking foods such as broiling fish, baking lasagna, frying tortillas, and stir frying can produce an average indoor Nitrogen Dioxide level ranging from 30 to 170 parts per billion per the California Environmental Protection Agency. That is why everyone needs an exterior exhaust fan when they cook in the Kitchen. We at Safe Homes always recommend that everyone have an exhaust fan in their Kitchen.

Air Cleaners can be a big help in alleviating Indoor Allergies. Our policy at Safe Homes is to always recommend an air purifier for anyone with Asthma, Allergies or Chemical Sensitivity. An air purifier will help them create a cleaner purified air indoors that will stop the indoor irritants from becoming a problem. They will help if someone one stops by your house that has perfume or cologne on that you are allergic to. I have some clients that put a sign on the front door of their home which says "No Fragranced Products Are Allowed In This Home". It is an extreme measure but it is their life and others are impacting them.

In conclusion, if you suffer from Allergies, Asthma or any Respiratory condition, it is important that you monitor your Indoor Air Quality at all times. If you feel that your Allergy, Asthma or Respiratory symptoms are getting out of hand, it is important to seek medical help immediately. I have one client who can go into Cardiac Arrest if she is exposed to certain types of Perfumes, that is why it is important to seek medical help. Others need to understand that certain Allergies can be life threatening and should not be taken lightly.

Home Canning - Keep Fruits & Vegetables Fresh Through Winter

By Wendy Addams Platinum Quality Author

Home canning is an old, traditional method of preserving food. You may remember your parents or grandparents canning foods before winter, so that they would have fruits and veggies into the coldest winter months. Almost anything that grows can be canned and preserved.

Canning works by raising the temperature inside the jar of food you are preserving high enough to kill any bacteria that would cause it to spoil, it is then sealed so that no new bacteria can enter the jar. This can be done by several methods, however the easiest and most inexpensive way is by using a boiling water canner.

Boiling water canners work best when preserving fruits, because the highest temperature inside a boiling water canner may not be high enough to kill the bacteria in vegetables.

The process of canning consists of filling jars with whatever fruits you want to preserve, and filling the rest of the jar with liquid. Some people fill the rest of the jar with a canning syrup, which improves the color and taste of the fruit. Once filled, the jars are then placed inside the canner, where the water inside the canner must completely cover the tops of the jars.

The heating process can now begin. Most fruits require that it be kept at a certain temperature for a specific amount of time in order to kill all bacteria inside the jar. Once this time is up, the jars can then be removed and allowed to cool.

Once cooled, the tops of the jars must be pushed in to make sure they sealed properly during the canning process. If the center of the lid can be pushed down, and stays down, then it has properly sealed. However, if it pops back up then it hasn't sealed properly, and bacteria may enter the jar which would spoil the food.

If it hasn't sealed properly you can do one of two things. You can either refrigerate the jar, and eat the contents within a few days, or you can try to can it again. If you go through the canning process with the jar again, be sure to use a different lid, just in case the one used previously is defective.

Keeping Your Nail Polish Fresh

By Alicia Lyons

I find it amusing when clients tell me that they keep their polish in the refrigerator. I can't seem to figure out why. Then the answer came to me. The polish has been kept in the dark (prevents the polish from changing color) and the cold air slows down the air molecules. I personally think that there are better ways to keep your polish fresh (and leave room for the milk in the frig). As I've mentioned, keeping polish stored in the dark or out of direct sunlight is very important. Direct sunlight and even indirect sunlight (a bright room) can distort the original color of the polish. I've worked in a spa that had bright light coming into the nail room in the morning. This spa had to replace the OPI color Coney Island Cotton Candy about once every two months. The color would turn yellow and become very unappealing to the customer. Another thing that I've noticed is that a lot of people do not know how to keep the neck of the bottle clean. By keeping the neck and the inside cap of the bottle clean, you'll keep your polish fresher, longer. You ask why? Well, when there is a build-up of polish around the neck and inside the cap, it will allow more air into the bottle and thicken the polish quicker.

So, how do you keep the neck and the inside cap of the bottle clean? You can do it the usual way, with a little polish remover on a lint-free paper towel and wipe them off every time you polish your nails. Or you can just add a little caution to how you pull the brush out of the bottle. As you pull the brush out of the bottle, wipe off the excess polish inside the bottle instead of on the top of the bottle. This will reduce the amount of times you need to clean the neck and the inside cap of dried out polish. You'll also save yourself the headache of trying to open a bottle of polish that won't open because the cap is stuck on with dried polish.

If the polish is already thick, use polish thinner to thin it out, not polish remover. Polish remover can sometimes break the polish down incorrectly and make it chip faster. You can pick up polish thinner at beauty supply houses like Sally's. Fresh base coat nail polish also works to thin polish without effecting the consistency. Also, you can get more out of your polish (if you use it a lot) by buying two of the same type of polish (base coats, top coats, color polish). Use one bottle to apply to your nails and use the other to refill the first. Instead of only getting a half bottle out of each bottle (one bottle out of two), you'll get 1 ½ bottles out of the two. It is important to note, don't use a third bottle because the original polish has broken down too much with thinning that the original polish will chip faster than a fresh bottle.

Hope this helps your polish stay fresher, longer.

Inside Knowledge about Diesel Engines

By Thomas Yoon Platinum Quality Author

One of the most reliable internal combustion engines around
is the diesel engine. In many industrial installations, diesel
engines are used as prime movers for the generation of
electricity and for emergency air compressors.

It's true that they are rugged, but one of the most important
advantages of these engines is the fact that they can be
started by manual cranking. In remote areas, diesel engines
can be counted upon for starting up from scratch.

Once a small diesel engine is started, it can be used to drive
a small electrical generator that can then be used to produce
electrical supply for driving other machines like pumps,
compressors, and for lighting.

How does a diesel engine work?

First there must be combustion of fuel. As we have discussed
in our previous articles, combustion or burning of fuel occurs
whenever there is sufficient heat, fuel and oxygen. When
conditions are just right, combustion can be very rapid. Rapid
combustion causes an explosion in an enclosed area. This is
because of the rapid built-up of hot gases during the process.

In an internal combustion engine like a diesel engine, this
rapid combustion, and built-up of hot gas pressure is used to
push a piston away from the enclosed combustion space.

The piston is attached to a crankshaft through a connecting rod.
Because of this, the engine is able to convert the linear
movement of a piston to a rotating movement of a crankshaft.

The outward movement of the piston turns the crankshaft. However,
the momentum of the turning crankshaft forces the piston back
again towards the engine combustion space in a reciprocating
movement.

Once the piston moves away from the combustion space, the
pressure drops. The next stage of operation depends on the
design of the engine. These can be either 2-stroke or 4-stroke
designs.

Regardless of the type of design, the spent exhaust gas is
first driven out, and then new fresh air is drawn back into
the combustion chamber.

After this, the rotating crankshaft drives the piston to
compress the fresh air inside the combustion chamber. The
piston acts as a reciprocating compressor at this stage.

The compression of the air causes the latter to become hot - hot
enough to ignite finely distributed fuel particles.

At this moment, fuel is sprayed in at high pressure. The tiny
sprayed fuel particles form a mist inside the combustion chamber.

What do think will happen when you have heat, fuel and oxygen?
A fire! Each tiny particle of the fuel burns rapidly, and an
explosion occurs.

The cycle starts again, and the crankshaft turns continuously,
the pistons move continuously, and the engine runs.

How does the engine know when to spray fuel, let in air, compress
the air, and exhaust the spent combustion product?

Well folks, start your engines.

Until next time…

Storing Coffee Properly - How to Keep Your Coffee Fresh Longer

By Edward Alban

The way you store your coffee will have a great influence on its taste when you brew it. If you follow these simple guidelines, you will keep your java fresh for a longer period of time.

Storing whole beans is recommended because they stay fresh longer than ground coffee. The coffee beans (roasted) must be stored in an airtight container, isolated from light and heat. Always try to use a ceramic airtight jar, the kind that has a plastic gasket to prevent oxygen from entering, or your aroma from escaping. This method should keep your coffee beans fresh for a couple of weeks.

It is ideal to grind your coffee beans right before brewing it. You will notice the air is filled with an incredible aroma when you grind it, and you want that fresh aroma to be in your cup. Ground coffee stays fresh only for a few days. Also, like whole beans, ground coffee must be kept in an airtight container free from light and heat.

Freezing your coffee is one of the worst things you can do if you want to store it correctly and keep it fresh. When you freeze coffee, water molecules attach to the casing, beans and ground coffee. When this ice melts, water oxidizes the bean, ruining its taste. This phenomenon is even greater if it has been ground prior to freezing, since there is more surface area for the water molecules to adhere. If you decide to refrigerate coffee, please keep in mind that the refrigerator will condensate water inside the packaging, completely ruining your coffee.

Follow these simple guidelines and you'll be sure to keep your coffee fresh longer, and enjoy a better cup every time.

Cooking Recipe - Camper's Succulent Barbecued Lamb Recipe With Pita Bread and Fresh Mint Salad

By Sami Fab Platinum Quality Author

You are on your camping holiday. You're cooking over a barbeque. Let's say, you're putting on the burgers. Now, do you ever think to yourself, what are the ingredients that make up these burgers?

We have all seen on the packets of burgers the list of E numbers and preservatives. Also do you ever wonder how old and how good is the quality of the meat?

What better way of knowing the quality of the meat than to make the burgers fresh yourself. That way you know they are made from the freshest meat. Of course there will be no artificial colors or preservatives. They'll be packed with all the proteins and vitamins that fresh meat provides.

Here is a quick and simple recipe for lamb patties (small burgers) using fresh lean minced lamb. This is accompanied with a fresh and tasty mint salad inside a wonderful wholemeal Pita pocket.

Ingredients: Serves 4

1Kg fresh lean minced lamb
60g finely chopped fresh parsley
1 medium onion finely chopped
25g finely chopped fresh mint
1 clove of garlic, crushed
1 egg
Salt and pepper

Mint Salad

4 small ripe tomatoes
20g whole fresh mint leaves
1 small red onion finely sliced
1 tablespoon of olive oil
2 tablespoons of lemon juice

Method

Place the lamb, parsley, mint, onion, garlic and egg into a large bowl. Knead all the ingredients together while adding salt and pepper for seasoning. The use of the egg is to bind the ingredients together while adding extra protein and vitamins to the meal.

Shape the mixture into eight small patties and leave until you have made the mint salad. To make the Mint Salad first slice the tomatoes into thin rings. Place them in a bowl along with the sliced red onion, whole mint leaves, olive oil and lemon juice. Using a spatula or large spoon gently turn over the salad. Add salt and pepper for seasoning at the same time. Stop when the salad is evenly coated with the olive oil and lemon juice.

Once the salad is prepared brush on the patties a little olive oil both sides to stop them sticking to the hot barbeque grill. Place the patties on the barbeque and cook on each side for approximately 3-4 minutes. Make sure there is a nice brown crust on the bottom before you turn. Otherwise it may fall apart.

Put the wholemeal Pita breads on the barbeque only for a few seconds to brown both sides. Using wholemeal Pitas gives the meal an extra higher fibre content than using ordinary white pitas. Once browned take off the pitas and cut in half. Open them up and place inside them a little salad. Add a lamb pattie and then a little more salad.

If you like natural yogurt, it is a great compliment as a dressing. It is also good for your digestive system because natural yogurt has good bacterial properties. This cooking recipe is rich in nutrients. It has protein, vitamins, iron, minerals and good bacteria for the digestive system. A truly wholesome meal for the whole family. Enjoy.

How to Cold Weather Camp in Your RV

By Mark Corgan

As the weather gets colder, campers start putting their RV's away for the winter. But not so fast. There is so much to see and do during the winter season and enjoying these activities from the comfort of your RV can be a refreshing experience.

Here's how to prepare your motorhome, travel trailer, toy hauler, or 5th wheel to ensure you have a pleasurable, safe, and protected cold-weather camping experience.

* Examine your RV's plumbing to determine what measures may be needed to prevent damage from freezing temperatures. Some RV's have plumbing exposed to the outside elements. In this case, you should wrap the exposed plumbing with heat tape and foam pipe insulation.

* Part of the plumbing system includes the holding tanks. Some RV's have enclosed holding tanks that are heated by the RV's furnace through heater ducting to the holding tank areas. As long as the furnace runs occasionally, the tanks won't freeze unless it's very cold (below 20F).

* For those tanks that are not heated and/or enclosed, tank heating pads can be affixed to the bottoms of the tanks. These are very easy to install, thermostatically-controlled, and come in both 12-volt DC and 110-volt AC.

* Yet another part of the RV plumbing system is the holding tank piping and dump valves. Some higher end RVs have these pipes and valves enclosed and heated from the factory. For most RVs though, they are exposed to the elements. As with the plumbing pipes, these pipes and valves can be protected by wrapping them with heat tape too.

* You should keep your gray and black water valves closed until you are ready to dump your holding tanks. If gray water constantly allowed to drain, it will eventually form an ice dam in your sewer hose. As an alternative, you could also try insulating and wrapping heat tape around your sewer hose if you want to leave the gray water valve open. In any case, be absolutely certain that your sewer hose is at a steep angle where liquids drain rapidly and are not allowed to stand. Using a sewer hose support will help with this.

* Another area subject to freezing is the fresh water supply hose. You can use a heated water hose to prevent freezing. This is a good option if you are in a campground with full hookups. They run on either 12 volts DC or 110 volts AC.

* To reduce drafts and heating requirements, you can insulate the your RV's windows against the cold with heavy drapes or curtains. You can create an insulating dead air space inside of the windows by covering them with clear, heavy vinyl. You can even cover the interior of the windows with sheets of Styrofoam or poster board but these are a little hard to see through.

* The roof vents are an area where heat can escape. There are foam type pillows specifically made to be placed in the vent openings. These fit snugly and greatly reduce heat loss in these areas.

* If you have a motorhome, hang a heavy blanket or privacy curtain between the driver's compartment and the rest of the motorhome which will block the cold radiated by a motorhome's windshield. This works very well whether you have a Class A, B, or C type motorhome as they all have large windshields.

* Any compartments that open into the inside of the RV need to have good weather seals. Adding some inexpensive foam tape or weather stripping to the compartment opening and doors will really help seal those air leaks.

* Now that the RV is sealed tight from air leaks, we have the problem of condensation to deal with. Moisture from cooking, washing and just our breathing raises the humidity inside the RV. As it gets colder, this moisture condenses out on cooler inside surfaces like window frames and doors. This can lead to mold and mildew, water stains or even worse. The best way to prevent condensation is to avoid introducing excessive moisture into the air. A good practice is to always use the range hood vent when cooking and the bathroom vent when showering. This will draw most of that moisture out of the rig. It may be necessary to keep a roof vent open slightly to provide some ventilation and keep condensation in check. Insulating exposed surfaces that tend to collect moisture will also help. A small dehumidifier or some of those little tubs of desiccant crystals may be necessary, depending on the RV and how many are staying in it.

* Finally, we need to consider how the RV is going to be heated. Portable electric heaters are a great supplement to the propane furnace. This method of heating doesn't add condensation to the air and allows the propane furnace to run considerably less, saving a lot of propane. Catalytic heaters are another popular way to provide assistance to the propane furnace but require fresh air ventilation to avoid oxygen depletion in the RV.

Here are some more tips on how to help you cold weather camp in your RV:

  • If you don't want to spend the money for a heated fresh water hose, simply disconnect the normal hose from the RV and the water spigot when the temperature is going to fall below freezing. Empty the hose and store it. You can then use the RV's fresh water tank to supply water.
  • Some cold-weather RVers winterize and then don't use their plumbing system at all. Instead, they carry containers of drinking water inside the living area of the RV and rely completely upon the campground's restroom facilities. Call ahead to the campground if this is your plan. Some close their restrooms during the off-season and others may only have electrical hookups available.
  • During the evening, leave your cabinet doors open slightly. This will help some heat reach the plumbing that runs through the cabinetry and along the cold walls.
  • If possible, empty the holding tanks if they will be subject to freezing and pour a couple of quarts of non-toxic, biodegradable antifreeze into each holding tank. This will protect the dump valves. Pour in more antifreeze as wastewater fills the tanks.
  • When using any type of catalytic heater in any inside area, provide a fresh air opening of at least three square inches. This is necessary because this type of heater consumes the oxygen in your RV. If you do not replace the depleted oxygen through ventilation, you stand a chance of not waking up the next morning.
  • Although the methods explained in this article will help substantially reduce the potential for plumbing and holding tanks from freezing, they cannot guarantee it. Once the temperature gets low enough, little can be done to keep up. Unfortunately, we all have to stop camping at some point!

Pressing Fresh Flowers

By Steve Valentino Platinum Quality Author

Floral craft and floral décor are avocations which if passionately followed can become and addiction of a lifetime. Some floral crafts are pressing fresh flowers, waxing fresh flowers and drying fresh flowers. The easy thing about any floral art is just to have the knowledge to begin with and since none of these crafts are time consuming, you can easily squeeze this into your busy schedules - at work and even at home. We will concentrate on pressing fresh flowers.

This floral craft is the easiest of all. You have to carefully select the fresh flower you want to press. It's important that the flower is not wilting. Bring the flower home and quickly put them inside your refrigerator or an ice chest to keep them fresh while you organize your pressing material. For pressing you would require a newspaper sheet, a thick heavy book - preferably a dictionary or a telephone directory / yellow page etc., and some heavy objects weighing about 20 lbs. or above.

This done, take out the flowers from the refrigerator and put them in the newspaper fold in such a manner that all the petals spread out without folding. Next put the upper fold of the newspaper over the flower and open the dictionary or telephone directory from the middle and place the newspaper inside. Close the dictionary/directory and put the heavy weights over the dictionary. The pressing process takes about 3 days, so make sure you do it at a place which will remain untouched for three days. Once the flower is dry and pressed, you can do many a things with them, make greeting cards, use them in an arrangement, art work for wall or your dining table or even that tiny corner for your office place or even designing a perfect gift for someone you love.

How To Keep Your Shoes Smelling Fresh

By Eugen Lisov

Having smelly sneakers is, to say the least, a big problem. I’m sure everyone has had issues with this at least once in their lifetime. If you found this article, you definitely know what I’m talking about. What I’m going to do here is to lay down a few strategies that you may want to put to use in order to keep your sneakers and footwear in general smelling fresh.

Because it’s better to prevent something bad from happening than to try to fix it when it’s already too late, I will offer here only tips on preventing the bad smell from sticking to your shoes. If your shoes already stink, the situation is a little more complicated and it deserves its own article.

I the order of importance, these are the things you must do to avoid stinky shoes:

1. Buy quality shoes. The fist thing you must watch for is the quality of your footwear. Try to only buy shoes made of natural materials, because they allow you feet to breathe and the sweat dissipates much easier. Synthetics are toxic for your feet, because they prevent ventilation. You go for an hour jogging wearing them and the next thing you know, everything around starts rotting.

It is nice to see good looking shoes at low prices and you may think you’re getting a good deal. Trust me, you’re not! They will break sooner that you can imagine, and the cost and effort to keep them in good condition and smelling great will far exceed the amount you saved by going for cheaper shoes.

So I recommend you invest a little more when shopping for shoes because the benefits are far greater.

2. Maintain hygiene. Nothing new here, but a lot of people seem to overlook this detail. When you’re showering, don’t forget to wash your feet too. It sounds dumb, I know, but when showering, most tend to forget about the feet. Since all water and soap goes to the feet, why bother washing them? But that’s not enough. We’re talking about the most awful smelling part of our bodies. Do you think only water and soap will do the trick? I don’t think so.

There are many types of abrasive stones and sponges you can find in the stores specifically for this. Use them. They work wonders. They remove the dead lair of skin on your feet, the one that causes most of the bad smell.

Also, alternate cold and hot water on your feet. It better cleans the pores in your skin and well, the sweat smells a little better. If your feet smell so bad, you should also alternate soap brands. Soaps have different composition and they act on different chemicals. If you use two soap brands, you’re more likely to neutralize more of the bacteria that produce bad odor.

3. Change your socks often. Again, very obvious, but still, most forget about it. Use a clean pair of socks every day. Changing them twice or even three times a day is ideal, but once is the minimum allowed. If you use the same socks as yesterday, your shoes and feet may have something to say about it. And you don’t want to hear it!

If you do jogging or other sport, wash your feet before putting another pair of socks on.

Oh, and make sure you wear socks made of cotton or even wool, because synthetics make you feet rot.

4. Rotate you shoes. You should have more than one pair of shoes. One day you can use one pair, the next day another pair. This way, they have enough time to take some air and for the sweat to evaporate.

5. Leave your shoes to breathe. It’s a good practice when you get home to put your shoes somewhere out in the open (not if it rains, of course). The wind will brow some fresh air and the sweat will evaporate. And for some reason, when you put on a pair of shoes that’s been ventilated, you feel so comfortable. It’s like you have new shoes. You should do this especially if you’re involved in some kind of sport.

6. Clean your shoes once in a while. I don’t know why, but when you keep them clean on the outside, they tend to stay fresh on the inside for longer. Maybe because you sense that something isn’t all right on the inside and you need to do something about it. But don’t rely solely on this. You won’t get the results you crave for.

7. If they’re wet, leave somewhere to dry. If it rains, make sure you put the shoes to dry before putting them in the shoe box or wearing them again. When there is water inside the shoes, they start to rot in less than a day and it smells awful, especially if they are already a little smelly.

If you follow at least some of these simple strategies, you shouldn’t be having any problem with bad odors coming from your shoes any time soon.

Articles Boost Your Income

By Cody Moya

You're selling snowboots, and you're doing reasonably well. Suddenly you notice that the hits to your website are dropping off, and your sales are following. It's winter; they should be moving really well! What's happening?

Chances are good that a competitor is siphoning off your customer pool. If your website isn't search-engine optimized or if your content is stale, your customers may be going somewhere else. Here's what happens: your website is established, providing a nice catalog selection of snowboots and accessories. Paul's Snowboots springs up out of nowhere, and determines that the way to get a good customer base is to make his website better than yours.

So Paul studies you. He figures out what keywords pull up your site, and he uses those on his site. He figures out who's linking to you, and he requests reciprocal links from these vendors. And he discovers that you're not offering anything to your customers but a nice place to buy snowboots at a fair price.

Paul starts writing articles, one every month on different aspects of snowboots. He posts articles on his website. He submits them to article exchange databases, finding more URLs to link to his site. He creates a regular newsletter, and once he's captured a customer's attention with the newsletter, he can continually remind them that he's there and waiting whenever they're ready to buy snowboots.

There's a finite customer pool for snowboots; inevitably, you're going to feel the pinch.

So how do you stop it?

Writing Articles To Capture and Keep Customers

Today's average web consumer is terribly spoiled. He or she is used to getting a little something free. If your customers have been coming to your site for months or years and gotten nothing extra except a nice thank you note and a good price, then they may be ready for a change.

And the best freebie you can give them is an informative article. That's what Paul knows that you don't know.

So Paul has been writing articles: how to ensure your snowboots are waterproof, why you should buy a size larger than you think, what you can do to keep them smelling fresh inside, everything he can think of. And customers have been flocking to him, reading his articles, using his advice – and buying his boots.

The only way to fight back is to provide your own great article content, and even a newsletter.

But you don't know how to write.

Finding Articles to Keep the Customers

That's okay, believe it or not. It'll cost you a little extra money, not much, to buy private label rights to web-optimized content from a professional writer. You can guide the writing of the articles, or you can purchase them pre-written; whichever way you go, your main task is going to be ensuring the articles add value to your customer's trip to your website.

You can find articles to purchase from article brokers, or you can hire writers directly to write for your website. Either way, be certain you can put your own byline on the article; this makes it your own, no matter who wrote it to begin with.

But don't stop there. Go ahead and start a newsletter, and ask your customers to sign up for more great information. And post some of your free articles to an article exchange site; you can get people linking to your website for no more work than sharing a single article.

And if you really want to one-up Paul, hire someone to write an ebook for your site. You gain guru status, your customers who have downloaded the book have a permanent reminder that you're there, and Paul doesn't know what hit him.

And Another Thing

Articles are useful for income generation in another way. If you have an emailed newsletter with a decent sized audience, you can sell advertising space on it to other vendors or to the companies that provide you with your brands of snowboots. A one-line ad from Lands End, another short ad from a startup making custom socks, and an ad from a site that sells Eskimo-style parkas. If you start selling advertising on your own newsletter, you can make back enough to pay for the newsletter at minimum, and you may even start to make a profit.

What Should You Blog About? Advice on Blogging

By Maclauren Zuiderduin

So what do you blog about? Many folks end up getting this writers block mentality when it comes to choosing a topic or just trying to brainstorm about what to blog about. If you are not sure what to blog about, then you can get some ideas by merely doing a bit of research and educating yourself about some of the benefits to blogging and finding out what other folks enjoy blogging about.

Some folks find themselves asking the question of what exactly IS a blog? It is not a new term but it is one that is gaining momentum and popularity quickly. Very simply, a blog is like a journal of your opinions and thoughts or ideas. Technically it's a website that has your journal entries or better known as your "blog" entry. These are simply just posts that you leave in a chronological order that cascades down from the most recent to the oldest. The popularity of of blogging is increasing everyday and at a very fast pace.

For the most part it's a way of getting your opinion and ideas out to the world and sharing those with fellow readers that can leave comments on your blogs allowing you to interact with others on the Internet. In short, you can talk about really anything, and many people do. Topics range from their crappy job to their pets and family members.

People blog about their personal opinions of current events and international affairs. It's very similar to keeping a journal but think of it more of a diary that you leave open for the world to read. They are filled with all the personal aspirations and thoughts from a persons mind and sometimes run around very randomly

Many people have the hobby of reading these blogs while others take up blogging as a hobby and enjoy posting their thoughts and feelings for others to read. In a nut shell, you can let your imagination run rampant and write just about anything your hearts desire. It's really a form of personal expression and can be about how you feel which provides a therapeutic output for some bloggers.

Blogs can be used as a fabulous marketing tool such as I use them for, and can make a residual income if you choose to blog for these purposes. People that wish to make their footprint and in some way touch another persons life with their own experiences or stories often blog daily. You can use a blog for anything and the sky's the limit.

Talk about your political or religious views. Blog about your job, your daily commute or your relationship success and failures. Blog about cooking and share recipes in your blog. You can blog about your hobby or your business. Overall, blog about ANYTHING!

I hope this helps with the writers block and gives you a fresh inside look at what to blog about. The ideas and topics are literally endless and to be honest you could come up with enough topics in 5 minutes that would keep you blogging for years to come.

Happy blogging!

Foot Health - Shoes For Better Health, Comfort, Work, Or Play

By Joel Newton

Shoe health and comfort is a very individual experience. Shoe health, comfort is mainly a matter of correct size and fit. Podiatric Associates, reminds us that the most important factor in shoe health and comfort is a proper fit. The most influential factor contributing to foot and shoe comfort is underfoot cushioning. Shoe comfort is the combined effect of several inside-shoe factors. When choosing a shoe comfort is critical. So always make sure that shoe comfort is in the equation when buying.

Shoe breath-ability is vital to both foot and shoe hygiene. Shoe people seldom realize or consider inside-shoe friction as a common cause of shoe discomfort. Selectshoe has the largest selection of women's shoes, men's shoes, kids' shoes, casual shoes, dress shoes, and athletic shoes. Selectshoe is the one-stop shop for all your footwear needs, shoes, basic sportswear shoes, and many more.

Shoe size alone does not determine the appropriate fit of a shoe. Shoe health comfort means dry, cool and fresh inside. Free Shipping is offered on Rockport and other name brand footwear at SelectShoe. If the heel of your shoe is too high or hard, it can lead to tendonitis, causing a health problem.

Babies' feet health show need for 'support' in their first shoes. Children's' shoe sizes need to be checked often because like an infant, they have growing feet and their overall health is important.

Most so called 'foot-odors' are shoe odors. This results from a combination of heat, perspiration, bacteria and shoe chemicals that may cause poor foot or even leg health. Rotation of the shoes we wear daily gives shoes time to dry out and reduces the build up of perspiration, bacteria, and shoe chemicals that shorten the life of good shoe.

Recently I ordered 2 pair of shoes from Selectshoe.com and was shocked when I came home today and my shoes had already arrived. They are super versatile, stylish, comfortable, and shoes that will promote good foot health. The first time I wore these shoes they were comfortable and I even got compliments.

Some jobs, outdoor sports and hiking require boots. Leather, waterproofed boots for work or hiking, not only provide healthy ankle support but provides the best overall protection in every situation. We are told that dry feet may help reduce some types of illness and promote health.

Sports shoes are very comfortable if they are not made from synthetic material. Some of the synthetic materials cause added perspiration and pain. Shoes not too heavy, causing Achilles tendon and not too smothering for the feet are wise health choices.

Whether you are looking for running, walking or casual shoes SelectShoe.com has shoes for health that have you covered.

Podiatric council reminds us that the most important factor in shoe comfort is a proper fit. Foot and shoe health is largely a thermal story, a reality often overlooked.

Are You Making Your Marketing Efforts This 'Fresh & Easy'?

By Tom Trush

At long last! A grocery store finally did something different to set itself apart from the wave of food advertisements that engulf my mailbox every week.

While sorting through Wednesday's mail, a circular from Fresh & Easy - a chain of neighborhood markets that recently opened here in Phoenix - grabbed my attention.

Adorning the cover were three slices of filet mignon nestled on a bed of fresh greens and cheese risotto, topped with a perfectly placed sprig of rosemary. This tummy-tempting image was a welcome change from the boring food items and oversized prices usually displayed in supermarket mailers.

Teaser text such as "Inside: Burger Time!" and "No-fuss entertaining" on the Fresh & Easy cover created a little curiosity. In the upper-right corner, a headline promised a "Romantic dinner made easy" (an excellent idea with Valentine's Day approaching). Unless you're an absolute rookie in the kitchen, you can quickly figure out that the four items under the headline come together to form the pictured steak dinner.

From a promotional perspective, I appreciate how Fresh & Easy uses their mailers to market an end-result. Instead of simply displaying a random assortment of food items for sale, you're shown a simple, four-ingredient "recipe" that - when combined - creates a complete meal.

Many companies market without giving prospects any direction. Fresh & Easy, however, shows you exactly what they want you to do. The message is simple: If you buy the four items (not just one) displayed on the cover, you'll be rewarded with an appetizing meal. The proof is in the picture!

What's more, the idea that this process is simple is reinforced multiple times. Not only does the headline use the word "easy," the term is also a part of the grocer's name.

We are a culture that craves things quick and with minimal effort. Fresh & Easy targets prospects' desire for instant gratification - and so should you.

One other cover item worth noting is how Fresh & Easy displays a unique characteristic that sets itself apart from competitors:

No need for loyalty cards or product coupons. These are our everyday low prices.

Consumers are selfish; they want to know why it's beneficial for them to use your product or service. Fresh & Easy gives you two reasons why in bold type right on its advertisement.

Inside the eight-page mailer are headlines to attract your attention. Also, descriptive text explains serving suggestions and, more importantly, reasons why you should buy their products. Several images offer visual clarification of the serving suggestions.

Sure, this is just one advertisement. But I think Fresh & Easy is well on its way to being a powerful presence in Phoenix's crowded supermarket landscape. The company is a bit different ... and that's a good thing.

NOTE: As you've probably determined by now, I study my mail. In fact, I don't mind receiving what some people might consider junk mail. These valuable pieces of marketing magic give me an opportunity to study the promotional efforts of companies from around the globe. Best of all, I never have to leave my house or spend a single cent.

How to Keep Salads, Vegetables and Fruits Fresh

By David Urmann Platinum Quality Author

There are things to consider in keeping your salad mixture fresh. This also goes for the fruits and vegetables you put in your salad. Keeping it fresh is essential, especially if it will not be consumed immediately.

To keep salads fresh, you can put a long strip of good paper towel and lay all your fresh salad recipes on top. This helps by soaking-up all the so-called "interstitial" moisture. Once you have gathered all that you need, place these inside a gallon zip bag. These bags make the salad mixture respire within the so-called normal rate.

When buying commercial salad, check for the expiry date. Although the salad mixture still looks fresh, you'll never know if bacteria are already starting to accumulate. Salads bought in bags do not really last long. After processing, it usually lasts 14 up to 17 days only.

You can store salads using glass jars. Tupperware products are best containers to keep these salads fresh. Alternatively, you can also use any air tight and spill proof containers. Others buy the Reynolds Handi-Vac. It vacuum-seals food to maintain freshness.

If you need to keep your salad fresh prior to serving, pour in some salad dressing at the bottom of the bowl. Then, place utensils crisscross on top of the bowl's bottom. After this, place a few large leaves of lettuce on top. Then, you can add the prepared greens as well as the other ingredients. This process actually separates the greens from the salad dressing. Greens easily wilt when poured with dressing already.

There are also ways to keep apples and vegetables fresh. Apples can be stored in a cool and dry place for a few weeks. Wrap them individually with newspaper before storing. If you place them inside the fridge uncovered, it can only last for a month or so. However, once an apple has exceeded it shelf life, you can still use it for stew or baking.

Bananas are just usually stored at room temperature. However, for a longer shelf life, you can place this inside the fridge. Although the skin becomes dark, this fruit itself is still okay inside.

Bananas are best when frozen. You can peel the bananas and place inside air tight plastic wraps.
Berries can be stored inside the fridge. Place them in zip locks before putting inside the fridge because they easily smell.

Freezing berries is best when it is unwashed. You can separate them on top of a cookie sheet uncovered and unwashed. Then, you can place them inside the freezer for 30 minutes to an hour, depending on its size. After this, place them inside freezer containers or bags before freezing.

Never thaw the berries. They are best washed when frozen and used immediately.

Corn, especially the ones on the cob should never be "shucked" long before you will use it. You can store these inside zip locks. You can also wet its shucks to extend shelf life. It also prevents corn from drying up.
